3. DATA STORAGE AND SYNCHRONIZATION

3.1 Local Storage

All calendar data and alarm settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data remains on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

3.2 CloudKit Synchronization

Your alarm settings and preferences (not your calendar events) are synchronized across your Apple devices using Apple's CloudKit service. This synchronization:

  • Requires you to be signed in to iCloud
  • Uses end-to-end encryption provided by Apple
  • Is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service
  • Can be disabled by signing out of iCloud or disabling CloudKit for this app

We do not have access to your CloudKit data. All synchronization is handled by Apple's secure infrastructure.

4. PERMISSIONS

4.1 Calendar Access

Cal-Alarm requires calendar read access to function. This permission:

  • Is requested when you first launch the app
  • Can be granted or revoked at any time in System Settings (macOS) or Settings (iOS)
  • Is used only to read event information necessary for alarm functionality
  • Does not allow us to modify, create, or delete calendar events

4.2 Notification Permissions

Cal-Alarm requires notification permissions to deliver alarm notifications. This permission:

  • Is requested when you first launch the app
  • Can be granted or revoked at any time in System Settings
  • Is used only to deliver alarm notifications
  • Does not allow us to send promotional or marketing notifications

5. DATA SHARING AND DISCLOSURE

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not share your calendar data or alarm settings with:

  • Advertising networks
  • Analytics services
  • Data brokers
  • Other third-party services

The only exception is Apple's CloudKit service, which is used solely for syncing your alarm settings across your own devices. This service is provided by Apple and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

6. DATA RETENTION

6.1 Calendar Data

Calendar data is accessed in real-time and is not stored by our app. We only read calendar information as needed to display events and schedule alarms.

6.2 Alarm Settings

Your alarm settings are retained:

  • Locally on your device for as long as the app is installed
  • In CloudKit for as long as you remain signed in to iCloud and have the app installed
  • Until you delete the app or clear app data

7. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES

You have the following rights regarding your data:

7.1 Access and Control

  • You can revoke calendar access at any time in System Settings
  • You can revoke notification permissions at any time in System Settings
  • You can disable CloudKit sync by signing out of iCloud or disabling CloudKit for this app
  • You can delete the app at any time, which will remove all locally stored data

7.2 Data Deletion

To delete all data associated with Cal-Alarm:

  • Uninstall the app from your device
  • If you want to remove CloudKit data, sign out of iCloud or disable CloudKit for this app before uninstalling

8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Cal-Alarm is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

9. SECURITY

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:

  • All data processing occurs locally on your device
  • CloudKit synchronization uses Apple's end-to-end encryption
  • We do not transmit calendar data over the internet
  • We follow Apple's security best practices for app development

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

  • Posting the new Privacy Policy in the app
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
  • Providing notice through the App Store update process for significant changes

If you use Cal-Alarm outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where Apple operates its services. By using the app, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries.
